"Pure Desmond" - Brent Jensen
Brent Jensen (alto sax), Jamie Findlay (guitar) & Steve Tate (percussion), and Special Guest Liam Anderson present a tribute to the legendary cool jazz saxophonist Paul Desmond.

Saxophonist Brent Jensens debut recording for the Origin label, The Sound of a Dry Martini: Remembering Paul Desmond, is a tribute to the iconic cool jazz saxophonist Paul Desmond, best known for his association with the immensely popular Dave Brubeck Quartet of the 1950s & 1960s.  Dry Martini charted on JazzWeeks Top 50 jazz radio playlist for thirteen weeks in the spring of 2002.  Selections from the CD held the #1 spot on jazz radio station charts across the country including WRTI (Philadelphia, PA), WICN (Worcester, MA), and KUSD (Sioux Falls, SD).  Dry Martini was also featured on Jazzweeks Top 100 and NPRs JazzWorks Top 25 lists for the year 2002.

Pure Desmond is a special tribute concert presented by the Acoustic Jazztet (saxophonist Brent Jensen, guitarist Jamie Findlay, percussionist Steve Tate) featuring music composed by Paul Desmond (Take Five, Wendy, Late Lament, Embarcadero) along with jazz standards (Tangerine, Line for Lyons, Just Squeeze Me) associated with the saxophonist.  Fans of Desmond dry martini sound (a term famously coined by Paul during an interview) will delight in the Acoustic Jazztets authentic rendering of the legendary cool jazz saxophonists music.

Brent Jensen was the Director of Jazz Studies at the College of Southern Idaho (Twin Falls, ID) for eighteen years.  He studied with saxophone legend Lee Konitz in the 1980s and has performed with a wide variety of jazz artists including Gene Harris, Bill Watrous, Bobby Shew, Joe LaBarbera, Wycliffe Gordon, Gary Foster and Warren Vache.  Brents recordings have received national jazz radio airplay and have been featured in issues of Jazziz, Cadence, Jazz Improv, JazzTimes and Saxophone Journal magazines.
