Musical Improv Workshop with Sarah Hanchar
This workshop will focus on the foundations of musical improv. Work will include vocal warm ups, rhyming games, and the basics of song structure. Attendees will have opportunities to put these new elements into practice with plenty of time to improvise musically.

Alex Engelberg will provide musical accompaniment.

Experience requirement: This is an intermediate level workshop and not intended for new improvisers. This workshop requires participants to have a minimum of three years of improv experience. Previous experience with musical improv a plus.

Instructor Bio:
Originally from Pennsylvania, Sarah A. Hanchar earned her theatre degree from The College of Santa Fe in New Mexico. Following her love of comedy and improv, Sarah went to Chicago to train and work at The Second City. After completing the Musical Improv Conservatory there, she was an original member of Second City's Musical Improv House Ensemble; Infinite Sundaes. In 2007 Sarah moved to Orlando, Florida to work as an Equity actor at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Orlando. She was an ensemble member of SAK Comedy Lab. In 2013 Sarah wrote her one woman musical show, Happy Pink Girl, and has toured it around the country and in England. Currently, Sarah is an ensemble member at Unexpected Productions and works with various improv, musical improv, and comedic projects in Seattle including Dystopia! The Musical and The Cotton Gin.

Musical Improviser Bio:
Alex Engelberg has 15 years of experience performing classical and rock music on a variety of instruments, and has been an improv-focused accompanist for a year and a half. His recent productions include The Cotton Gin, Dystopia! The Musical, and Build Your Own Musical. Alex is a company member at Unexpected Productions and can be found underscoring improv shows there weekly.
