Nell & Jim Band bring all of your favorite elements of authentic music together, creating a genre-busting sound that combines country, jazz, folk and bluegrass music. New album Baby Lets Take the Long Way was released in April 2017 on Whippoorwill Arts, and ranked #14 on the bluegrass charts. The album features a seamless blend of original material and classic country gems.

The beloved Bay Area bluegrass stars (San Jose Mercury News) have been featured in Prairie Home Companion, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, the PBS series Music Gone Public, Vancouver Folk Festival and FreshGrass.

Nell Robinson has been described as one of the freshest voices in roots music. Jim Nunally is a San Francisco Bay Area-native, a musician, composer, record producer, and teacher. Jim joins master American guitarists Doc Watson and Tony Rice as one of the finest interpreters and performers of bluegrass and traditional music. Jim Kerwin is considered simply one of the best string bass players in the country. Playing with David Grisman for over 30 years, he is featured on all of Grismans Jerry Garcia recordings. Jon Arkin is a versatile, gifted percussionist who is known for his performances & recorded work in a wide variety of musical contexts. He has performed with jazz greats such as Lee Konitz, Gene Perla, and Ira Sullivan. This is truly an all-star band!

All levels welcome! Be prepared to bring an original song.

Jim Nunally (vocals, guitar) will lead the workshop, with support from Nell Robinson (vocals, flute), Jim Kerwin (string bass), Rob Reich (accordion, keyboard), Jon Arkin (percussion)

Jim Nunally has produced over 100 recordings for various artists from all over the world. He began teaching music workshops and camps starting in 1986. He's been a sought after teacher for bluegrass guitar, vocal instruction, and record production.he has performed on television soundtracks and movie soundtracks and continues to perform with David Grisman when he's not playing with the Nell & Jim Band.
