April 20th at 7:00pm in historic Barnum Hall, Santa Monica High School Performing Arts Department will present Masterworks 2018. Every two years, Samohi's advanced choral ensembles, under the direction of Bravo award-winning choral educator Jeffe Huls, take on an ambitious "masterwork" by a noted composer and join with the school's skilled orchestral and band students to produce a remarkable, collaborative musical event.
Beethoven Mass in C major was commissioned in 1807 and is a shining example of Beethoven's early sacred works. Composed for large orchestral forces and praised by critics for its "directness and sensitive emotional content," it is often over-shadowed by his Missa Solemnis. The Mass will be paired with two shorter more contemporary works: Fern Hill by John Corigliano and Song of the Universal by Ola Gjeilo.

RESERVE YOUR SEATS in advance. Enter qty of adult and/or student tickets then add to cart. Be sure to click the "LET ME CHOOSE MY SEATS" button beneath the seating chart to give you the option of choosing from available seats on the seating chart. PRINT OR SHOW YOUR BARCODED TICKET ON YOUR PHONE AT THE DOOR FOR ENTRY (screenshot okay).
Note: Online ticketing will close at 6:00 p.m. and remaining tickets will be available for purchase at the door beginning at 6:15pm prior to the concert.
PARKING: 1. VALIDATED PARKING at the Civic Center flat lot and structure on 4th St between Olympic Dr and Pico. From the Civic, walk across 4th St and enter campus through the 4th St Gate (bring your parking ticket to get VALIDATED at Barnum); 2. You can also park at the METERS on Lincoln Blvd and Michigan Ave. (enter at the Michigan and 7th Court gate).
WHEELCHAIR SPACES are available. They have been marked "reserved" in advance so that patrons requiring seats do not buy them. Seats next to Wheelchair Spaces have been reserved as COMPANION SEATING, per ADA guidelines.
