Spring Concert 2018
On the afternoon of Sunday April 8th, The Arts Center in conjunction with Corvallis Guitar society and the members of Ensemble Demitasse host an afternoon filled with classical guitar and piano. This promises to be a fantastic musical experience featuring two top flight musicians who will be performing a combination of solo and duet works.

Ensemble Demitasse break with tradition by valuing a personal and Intimate connection with audiences; inhabiting musical roles such as multi-instrumentalist, composer, and arranger, Hui Wu (China) and Cameron O'Connor (USA) bridge the gap between performer and audience through programs which focus on interaction and storytelling. Over the course of years performing in Los Angeles venues from Zipper Hall to Central Juvenile Hall, ensemble demitasse is equally comfortable connecting through old and new music, and frequently works with some of LA's most original young composers.

Cameron O'Connor -
Award-winning and critically acclaimed, Cameron OConnor enjoys a diverse career in solo, chamber, and contemporary music. Recent and current performance engagements include those with John Adams, Michael Tilson Thomas, the New York Virtuoso Singers, and Boston's Firebird Ensemble. His playing has been featured in films, including James Francos Don Quixote, and his performances have been heard on Seattle's Classical 98.1 KingFM, American Public Medias Performance Today, and KPFK's Global Village. Cameron made his Lincoln Center debut under the baton of Tan Dun, in which he performed the Concerto for Six, an ensemble piece which mixes Western and Eastern musical idioms; in a review of the concert, the New York Times observed that Cameron fluttered on his guitar strings in a manner reminiscent of a pipa players technique. He is furthermore a prizewinner in  10 international competitions, including the Frances Walton and Tokyo International Guitar Competition.

Hui Wu-
Pianist Hui Wu has been described by The New York Times as a sparkling performer and a rising star by China Musical Weekly. Recent performance highlights include recitals at the Brand Library and Art Center, and Newport Beach Library. She has also performed in China with violinist Rainer Honeck (concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra), and in Los Angeles with Stefan Dohr (principal horn of the Berlin Philharmonic) and Stefan Ragnar Hoskuldsson (principal flutist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra). Her performances have included solo recital tours and masterclasses in China and Germany. Other highlights included opening night concert in the Tully Scope Festival in Lincoln Center, and celebration of the centennial of John Cage on the FOCUS! festival in Alice Tully Hall. Hui has won numerous competitions including first prizes in the Kosciuszko Chopin Competition in New York and the 65th Steinway International Piano Competition.
