Black Snow at AMC @ UCC
A screening of the multi-award winning film 'Black Snow', about the legacy of Britain's biggest ever mining disaster (Barnsley 1866), and how a community absorbed that heritage into their lives today. This uplifting show - with songs, laughter, some tears - is a celebration of coal mining communities and Prof Stephen Linstead relates how making the film informed his ideas of community and celebration. Book-ended by songs, stories of mining life from Radio 2 Folk Award Nominee Jed Grimes. Jed's informative, entertaining song introductions add greatly to the understanding of those communities. Stephen and Jed hail from mining families.
