UPLift Jazz Festival
Join us for an evening of jazz at the inaugural UPLift Jazz Festival, featuring the Elias Haslanger Quartet and the Daniel Dufour Trio.
About the artists:
Over the span of his 25-year music career, native Texan and Austin resident Elias Haslanger has carved a unique and distinguished place in jazz history as a saxophonist, composer, and band leader, whose playing and writing has drawn comparisons to John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Ben Webster, and Wayne Shorter. He has performed, recorded, and toured with many world-class artists including Ellis Marsalis, Maynard Ferguson, Christopher Cross, Charlie Hunter, Asleep at the Wheel, Alejandro Escovedo, Sheryl Crow, Grupo Fantasma, The Four Tops, and The Temptations, among many others. www.elijazz.com
Daniel Dufour, raised in Willis, Texas, is a freelance percussionist whose influences cover many genres of music. After receiving a Bachelors Degree in Percussion Performance at Sam Houston State University, Daniel moved to Austin, Texas where he received his Masters Degree in Jazz Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. While living in Austin, Daniel has had the opportunity to play with many great musicians including Pete Rodriquez, Gabriel Santiago, Justin Vasquez, Lynn Seaton, Mitch Watkins, Suzi Stern, Andre Hayward, Ephraim Owens, Elias Haslanger, Red Young, and many more.
