Chapman Roberts Broadway Jazz Festival/International Jazz Day
The historic event includes the celebration of the 100 year legacy of the contributions and influences of African Americas Greatest Jazz Composers on Broadway, with musical and spoken tributes to Cab Calloway, Bessie Smith, Mary Lou Williams, Hugh Masekela, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Fats Waller, J.C. Johnson, Billie Holiday, Eubie Blake, Noble Sissle, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan Louis Armstrong, Billy Strayhorn performed by New Yorks Brightest Broadway and Cabaret Jazz Stars.
Three Time Grammy Award Winning Broadway Choral Arranger Chapman Roberts assembles alumni of his Broadway hits such as Bubbling Brown Sugar, Your Arms Too Short To Box With God, Eubie, Smokey Joes Café," and a reunion of the Broadway National and International Companies of Five Guys Named Moe," in a special tribute to the "King of the Juke Box," Louis Jordan.
Longineu Parsons, Trumpet, Clyde Bullard, Bass, Ray Naccari, Keyboards, Greg Barrett, Kendall Claggett, Percussion. Other Black Stars of The Great White Way invitees include vocalists André De Shields, Alyson Williams, Kirk Taylor, Jermaine Coles, Cynthia Scott, Dakota McCleod, Natalie Carter - Prince, Raun Ruffin, Tina Fabrique, Yolande Bavon, Rome Neal, Gary Holmes, Al Copley, Jeffery Thompson, Byron Utley - Pianists Frank Owens, David Alan Bunn, William Foster McDaniel, Jeff Laibson - Contemporary Tap Wizard Omar Edwards, and others subject to availability.
