Sacred Works I: Record Release
Join us for a concert of music featured on the first full-length Cult of Orpheus recording, Sacred Works I.
Doors at 7 pm, performance at 7:30 pm, Saturday June 23.
The lyrical compositions from the album will be performed by the Cult of Orpheus troupe singers and chamber ensemble, including:
The Emerald Tablet, for vocal quartet and string quartet, based on C. A. Corbell's translation of the ancient text of Hermetic mysticism.
Love's Alchemy: four songs from the Sufi tradition (by Rumi and others), for two sopranos, flute, and harp.
Dhammapada songs: three settings of the early Buddhist poetic teachings, for baritone and piano.
Two Sonnets to Orpheus, by Rainer Maria Rilke, set for baritone, classical guitar, and cello.
