"Revolutionary and Banned" Chamber Music Festival Ticket Package
The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia's annual chamber music festival returns with "Revolutionary and Banned," six concerts of classical chamber music that changed history and challenged authority. The festival opens with "Visionaries," Thursday, May 16, 2013 7:30 p.m., Bon Air Presbyterian Church 9201 W. Huguenot Rd, Richmond The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia's "Revolutionary and Banned" concert series opens with "Visionaries," a concert inspired by the forward-thinking music of Schumann,. Schoenberg and Handel, and the lost chamber music of Franz Schreker.
"(Pre)Revolutionary Music" Friday, May 17, 2013 7:30 p.m., Wilton House Museum 215 S. Wilton Rd., Richmond The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia's "Revolutionary and Banned" concert series continues with "(Pre)Revolutionary Music" a concert featuring the decadent French Baroque music from the court of Louis XIV, performed on period instruments in the historic Wilton House Museum. Musical selections include suites by Rameau and Couperin, and the solo flute sonata by C.P.E. Bach.

"The Start of Something Big" Wednesday, May 22, 2013 7:30 p.m., Bon Air Presbyterian Church 9201 W. Huguenot Rd, Richmond The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia's "Revolutionary and Banned" series concludes with "The Start of Something Big" featuring the famous Octet by Mendelssohn, Beethoven's visionary Grosse Fuga, Handel's glorious cantata "Il Delirio Amorosa," and the electroacoustic music of Richmond's own Benjamin Broening.
"Revolutionary and Banned" is one of several chamber music events CMSCVA presents annually, this time programmed around the remarkable role chamber music has played in muscial, political and social history. The series features 17 celebrated musicians - international competition winners, favorite performers from Richmond's classical music scene, and world-class soloists who bring this thrilling music to life. The concerts will be held in the historic Wilton House Museum, the Bon Air Presbyterian Church, and the Gellman Room of the Main Public Library in downtown Richmond.
