A Breath of Spring - Melodia Women's Choir 10th Anniversary Concert
Melodia's 10th anniversary concert brings the depth and dynamism of women's voices in a program of new and favorite works.
Conducted by Cynthia Powell, Melodia's singers are joined by award-winning pianist Taisiya Pushkar and dynamic virtuoso French horn quartet Genghis Barbie.
The program features a new commissioned work by Nina Siniakova, the winner of Melodia's 10th anniversary composers competition. Nina's new work is highly atmospheric and overlaps texts in English, German, Greek and Belorussian. Also on the program is Stravinsky's rarely-heard Four Russian Peasant Songs for Women's Chorus and Four French Horns, and works by Eleanor Daley, Maurice Durufle and John Rutter. Claude Debussy's joyful Salut Printemps (Welcome Spring) captures the essence of the program's celebration of the season and Melodia's celebration of 10 years of glorious music.
