!BAMM! 2018
Composers, Inc., in its 34th season, will present the 5th annual !BAMM! (Bay Area Modern Music) concert this spring. !BAMM! brings together Bay Area composers and performers in a festival-like environment that brings an enthusiastic close to the season. This year, the featured ensembles are SopraDuo, Siroko Duo, and violinist Michèle Walther. The concert will also showcase the winner of the 4th annual !BAMM! Student Composers Competition.
Siroko Duo will perform a few energetic flute duets; "Chase Study" by Lucas Floyd and "Tarentella" by Kyle Randall as well as Julie Barwicks "Conversations." SopraDuo will perform "A Small Picture of a Large Place" by Michael Kropf and "Songs for Sara" composed by our newest artistic director Emma Logan. Michèle Walther is a composer who plays violin with live looping pedal to create thick textures that sound like an ensemble of players. She will perform her composition "Sunday Morning." Also featured will be a fixed media work by artistic director Nick Vasallo, and "This is a Flower, not a gun" by Daniel De Togni who this year's winner of the !BAMM! Student Composers Competition.
The event will take place on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the beautiful First Congregational Church of Berkeley, recently renovated from the fire last year.
