Burns' Night at Edinburgh Folk Club / EFC
EFC's Burn's night has been a popular feature of the club's annual programme since we began in 1973. Then, in the basement of 23 George Square we managed to bang out haggis, neeps and tatties for about 60 or so folk accompanied by Tam O'Shanter (with thunder effects), an immortal Immortal Memory by the late Hamish Henderson which ran to nearly 90 minutes (and no notes!), Holy Willie's Prayer, the late Ian Cruickshank 'piping' in the haggis on his moothie ... and so on. Great entertainment.
This year as usual there'll be haggis et al, a proper piper in the form of Roddy MacDonald, the Selkirk Grace courtesy of Bill MacDonald and singing and tunes from George Duff, Kevin McLeod and Leo McCann, plus a floor spot or two. Good stuff all round and more memories to take away.
