Mads Tolling & Ian Scarfe
Mads Tolling is a two-time Grammy Award Winner and the 2016 Winner of Downbeats Critics Rising Star Poll for the violin. Mads is a former member of Turtle Island Quartet and Stanley Clarkes Band, and he now tours worldwide with his own projects.
For one special evening at the Sound Room, Mads returns to his roots to play pieces from his youth that inspired him to pursue a life in music. From Gershwins Porgy & Bess to classic show-pieces by Fritz Kreisler and Danish composer Jacob Gades Tango Jalousie, Mads shows us all the things a violin can do and then some.
Mads is joined by pianist and SF Conservatory alum, Ian Scarfe. Ian is the director of the Trinity Alps Music Festival in the Sierras, and he frequently tours the US and Europe.
