Please join us for the 7th annual STAYED ON FREEDOM: A MUSICAL CELEBRATION OF BLACK HISTORY MONTH on Saturday, February 3, 2018. This yearly concert (which is a co-production of and The Marcus Mosely Chorale and the City Soul Choir) features a rich tapestry of musical styles drawn from Black traditions.
Aside from the two exuberant choirs youll hear the sublime, vibrant harmonies of the vocal trio TriVo (Dawn Pemberton, Karla Mundy, and Brian Tate), as well as the joyful sounds of the Homegoing Brass Band.

Very special guest solo performers include jazz/gospel recording artist, Ada Lee, who began her career in the 1950s in Ohio, and sang on bills with the likes of Count Basie and Lionel Hampton. She performed at New York's Apollo Theatre and at jazz festivals throughout the US. After her move to Canada, she performed with Fred Stone and Joel Shulman in the Toronto area. Ada Lee now resides on the West Coast. Also on the bill is Vancouvers own queen of soul, Dawn Pemberton. Making her first appearance at this event is local rap artist, Ndidi Cascade. Also appearing is a returning favouriteWill Sanders of The Sojourners fame. Local keyboard wizards Bill Sample and Michael Creber will provide accompaniment. As always, the engaging emcee for the night is Marc Lindythe recently retired co-host of Co-op Radios Gospel Train, and sousaphone player in the Homegoing Brass Band.

Each year this concert raises funds for a good cause; partial proceeds will support First United Church and its vital community programs in the Downtown Eastside.

Tickets are $30 ($25 for students and seniors, $10 for children) and can be obtained through Brown Paper Tickets ( ) or by calling the ticket hotline at 604-770-1088
