Shakespeare Shakedown Presents: A Midsummer Night's Dream
Step out of the cold New York winter and through the unmarked door of a ramshackle warehouse. As you cross the threshold and ascend the stairs, thoughts of the city fade, replaced by a mystical, inexplicable air of surprise and sorcery. Welcome to Queen Titania's enchanted grove of fairy mayhem and bardic revelry.
Time has gotten lost and mechanical oddities, trinkets and forgotten baubles operate alongside iPads and strange lights. Fairies, woodland creatures, lovebirds, madmen, even normal guys getting swept up in the action... your world has been doused with King Oberon's love drug.
Immerse yourself as actors spin wildly through the party, blending Shakespeare's poetry with improvisational interactions -- soliciting advice, inciting mischief and even inviting you to play along. Contribute to Queen Titania's ever-shifting art shrine. Steal one of the lovers for a dance. Help lost Hermia find her way. Toast Puck with a special homebrew potion that even Oberon couldn't match. Get recruited by Quince and Bottom for your 15 minutes of fame. Or go on a wild goose chase with the fickle fairies as your guides! Before the night is over, you'll be part of the enchantment.
Costumes welcome but not required! Wear anything that enchants your world. You're encouraged to bring items of tribute to the Queen and her fairies for her evolving art shrine. You know what fairies like: feathers, shiny baubles, earthy trinkets, things homemade, twisted things
