A Homegrown Holiday Special featuring Les Sampou & Savoir Faire
The Homegrown Coffeehouse presents a very special Holiday program with longtime Homegrown favorite Les Sampou, appearing for the first time with her jazz group Savoir Faire. Think of the evening as a soft entry into the Holiday season, part Les interpretation of jazz standards from the American Songbook in her own unique and sultry style, part Christmas Holiday music, as only Les and Savoir Faire can do it.
Les is a high energy, passionate singer and superb guitarist, in demand as a live performer for nearly two decades, playing clubs and concert halls and such prestigious festivals as Montreal Jazz Festival, Kerrville Folk Festival (where she won the coveted New Folk Award out of 700 contestants), Philadelphia Folk Festival, and Toronto Blues Festival to name a few. She has opened for the likes of the Grammy winning Nashville duo Sugarland and LeeAnn Rimes. With Savoir Faire, she joins ace guitarist, Jim Gordon, who brilliantly arranges classics made famous by Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Peggy Lee and Diana Krall. John Hagerty fills out the rhythm section, defining the bottom line on his 173 year old acoustic bass. The Homegrown Coffeehouse is located at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, at the corner of Great Plain and Dedham Avenue in Needham center. There is free parking and full handicapped accessibility. Admission is $22 / $18 students and seniors to benefit the Church.
