On Friday, January 18th, Celtic, Afro Caribbean jam band The Gaslight Tinkers are hosting a three band mini jam fest. The Andrew and Noah band from upstate NY and valley veterans Primate Fiasco join the tinker party 8-11:30. Check out the bios below:
The Andrew and Noah Band- Powerful songwriting, improvisation, dance grooves and a vision for the future of American roots music. That's what the Andrew & Noah Band is bringing to venues all over North America. Material written by brothers Andrew and Noah VanNorstrand, might best be described as Americana Groove: a mix of Appalachian, Celtic, classic Country and Bluegrass, Jazz and Swing, Cajun / Zydeco, Alternative Folk, Roots Rock and various world music influences. They're here from upstate NY with the full seven-piece band- fiddle, accordion, mandolin, saxophone, guitars, bass, drums and three-part harmony vocals.
The Gaslight Tinkers- Afrobeat, Caribbean, breakbeat, funk, and latin grooves meet trad Northern Fiddle. It's the future of the music of the past; it's a live remix; it'll move your feet and intrigue your brain. The Tinkers are valley veterans- Garrett Sawyer formerly of the Alchemystics on Bass, award winning singer songwriter and trad mando, guitar, banjo player Peter Siegel, fiddler Zoe Darrow of the renowned fiddleheads, and Dave Noonan of Fenibo laying it down on drums.
The Primate Fiasco uses the instrumentation of a New Orleans street band (Sousaphone, banjo, brass, woodwinds, drums, etc) but plays music that you wouldn't expect. They can keep a dance party pumpin' on a sidewalk or from a stage. High energy arrangements and improvisation mix with fascinating lyrics and curveball cover decisions. From their Grammy nominated kids album to their cult following of Hippies and Hipsters to their gray haired jazz lovers, the Fiasco scene is open to all demographics.
