Merrimans' Playhouse Jazz Performance Series presents Cook/Barnett/Merluzzi!
This trio is comprised of improvisers and composers based in Chicago, Illinois. The group's material includes original compositions as well as unique takes on standards. Since this group is bassless, they are inspired by groups of the same idiom such as the Paul Motian Trio, Real Feels, the Jon Gordon trio, among others.

James Cook is a Chicagoan saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist, specializing in the jazz and experimental idioms. Dylan Barnett is an accomplished musician and aspiring Jazz Guitarist.  Currently a Jazz Studies major at DePaul University in Chicago, he performs with several different bands and ensembles at various venues in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. Julian Merluzzi is a freelance drummer and percussionist in Chicago, Illinois. He specializes in the jazz idiom as well as other related musical genres. Upon moving to Chicago to study music at DePaul University, he has become involved in groups such as the Zenith Quartet, Dyna Blade Quartet, Jam City Collective, Halstead Trio, and many others. He currently studies with Professor Dana Hall, the director of the DePaul Jazz Program. Julian has also studied with Ernie Adams, Phil Beale, and Greg Essig.

$15 General; $10 Student
