New World Trio
Anhared Stowe is the founder and artistic director of the New World Trio and was Principal Second Violinist of the Hartford Symphony for 37 years. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree at the Juilliard School, and her Master of Music degree at the Hartt School. Ms. Stowe has worked with members of the Juilliard, Hungarian, and Guarnari string quartets, the Beaux Arts Trio, as well as Janos Starker, Arthur Balsam, and Joseph Fuchs. Ms. Stowe has also performed as a soloist with orchestras in Florida, Iowa, and Connecticut, and is an active recitalist. Ms Stowe has been most recently heard on NPR accompanying the poet Edgar Silex with her own compositions.

Cellist Peter Zays musical career has taken him to concert halls throughout the United States, Europe, and Central America. He appears regularly on the Sunday Serenades concert series at the Wadsworth Atheneum. Mr. Zay earned his Bachelor of Music Degree from the Manhattan School of Music. His teachers included members of the American, Emerson, Guarneri, and Muir String Quartets, as well as the Beaux Arts Trio. He has been featured live on WFCR and WAMC public radio, and has been heard on radio broadcasts across the United States.

Pi-Hsun Shih enjoys a versatile career as a soloist, collaborative pianist, and teacher. Ms. Shih has been a participant in a number of diverse chamber ensembles, and has been performing with the New World Trio for over a decade. The Taiwanese-American musician has also been a featured soloist with the Sao Paulo State Symphony, and the Mexico State Symphony Orchestra, where she was also the principal keyboardist. She studied with Gary Steigerwalt, Hong-Kuan Chen, Irma Vallecillo, and Rolf-Peter Wille. Ms. Shih received her DMA from the Hartt School, and her Master of Music from Boston University.
