American Roots Series with Horizon and Cabin Fever NW
Rainier Concerts presents the American Roots Series featuring two of the finest folk music groups in the Pacific Northwest performing on stage together for the first time.
Horizon is a four-member group of talented artists who play a bit of folk and a bit of country with a hint of bluegrass. Horizon leader Ron Wilburne, whose vocals are reminiscent of Johnny Cash, gives the audience a memorable performance. Ron and fellow Horizon member Chuck Cole honed their skills as performers with the New Christy Minstrels. Shayne Sutton's vocals and amazing guitar talent developed over decades of experience coupled with Kristen Willis' strong harmonies and solid bass playing make for an unforgettable experience. Horizon was awarded the People's Choice award for both 2007 and 2008 at the Winter Folk Festival in Florence, Oregon.
Cabin Fever NW's artists, Tara Wolfe and Dianne Bochsler, perform traditional and original Americana music with the sweetest harmonies and great melodies & vocals. The Bellingham performers, Tara on banjo and Dianne on guitar, wring every elegant note out of their music. Their original songs have received national media attention through National Public Radio and Sing Out! magazine. Cabin Fever NW tied with Horizon for the 2008 People's Choice award at the 2008 Winter Folk Festival in Florence, Oregon.
