The Murie-Wenstrom Family Singers at the Roots Cellar, Saturday, October 21 at 7 pm
The Murie-Wenstrom Family Singers will play at the Roots Cellar Music Series at University Baptist Church on Saturday, October 21 at 7 pm.
The Murie-Wenstrom Singers are Robin Murie, Jess Wenstrom, and John Wenstrom. They sing folk songs from both British and American-Southern traditions, both unaccompanied and with old-time fiddle and banjo or country guitar and mandolin. They learned their full, straight-ahead harmony style from many years of family singing with Robins Aunt Helen Schneyer, a Washington DC and New England folk singer. The Murie-Wenstroms sing regularly in the Twin Cities pub-shanty community, and in events associated with the Irish Fair of Minnesota and the Traditional Singers Club.
