Island Earth, screening with Paintbrush Harvest
Scheduled to attend: Daniel Perlaky (producer)

Synopsis: A rich tale of a young indigenous scientist's struggle for truth between science and tradition as he enters an industry that many feel is threatening his homeland. His complex journey through the inner workings of GMO chemical companies and traditional Hawaiian elders reveals ancient values that can save our future.

Director: Cyrus Sutton

Cyrus Sutton grew up in Southern California and divided his time between the coast and mountains, Sutton's inventive approach to filmmaking became the basis of the outdoor surf website Korduroy.tv. Growing up near the ocean and participating in water sports, he sought to use cinematography to document the surf culture around him and on his travels. His career has been well documented by various national publications such as Surfer Magazine. Cyrus says he was lucky enough to find what he wanted to do at a young age and have worked to make it his life. It's been a crazy journey which has allowed him to settle on four acres in the Columbia River Gorge east of Portland, Oregon. These days he's working on film projects and providing media and marketing services for Guayaki Yerba Mate, Reef, Adorama Camera Retailers, Hydroflask and Manda Naturals.

Paintbrush Harvest

(Documentary Short, 9 mins)
