MUSICA SACRA ET PROFANA by New Trinity Baroque
We are ready to start our new Season. And we are pleased to invite you to our Opening Concertnext Saturday, September 23rd at 8 PM, at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Atlanta (1790 LaVista Rd).
For this occasion, New Trinity Baroque will presents a meditative evening of sacred and secular vocal and instrumental music by Monteverdi, Purcell, Agneletti, Handel and Telemann. Entitled "Musica Sacra et Profana - from Monteverdi to Telemann," this concert will include compositions such as Giovanni-Battista Agneletti's "Gloria",Henry Purcell's"Lord, what is man","The Evening Hymn" and "Sweeter than roses", as well asClaudio Monteverdi's"Jubilet","Si dolce è'ltormento"and"Ut queant laxis", as well as viola da gamba compositions by Girolamo Frescobaldi andGeorg Philipp Telemann.A special treat will be the duets for two sopranos and continuo, including "Sound the Trumpet" by Henry Purcell and two amazing Italian duets by George Frideric Handel - "Quel fior che all'alba ride" and "Ah, nelle sorte umane".
With this concert we also celebrate two bigcomposer anniversaries- the 400th birthday of C. Monteverdi, and the 250th anniversary since the death of G.Ph. Telemann.
