Keeping in line with the ancient troubadour tradition, his music draws from the spirit of travel and authentic life experience.
Monica Laytham https://monicalaytham.bandcamp.com/
Monica Laytham is an Evanston-based singer/songwriter. She has toured the country with her original songs twice, most recently on a solo trip that spanned most of 2016. Monica's early musical background is in classical piano and church music. Still influenced by these traditions, her original work is also often a departure from her training. Poetic, inviting, and earthy, Monica's songs invite listeners to come exactly as they are into a place of welcome. Her music also attempts to challenge assumptions, and deals regularly with political themes and issues of injustice. Her concerts offer a space for communal lament and grief. Last year, Monica was a resident musician with the Carnival de Resistance.
Congress of Starlings (Andrea Bunch): www.andreabunch.com

She has played at world famous venues like Milwaukees Summerfest, Halsted Market Days, Taste of Chicago and more. Andrea was awarded the prestigious Three Arts Excellence in Art grant to attend the Ragdale Artists retreat, and has composed music for films, including the award winning documentary, Brink of Survival. Andrea also teaches many classes at the Old Town School of Folk Music, including the Voice of the People jam, a celebration of politically and socially driven music.
Chicago Area Peace Action: www.chipeaceaction.org
Chicago Area Peace Action (CAPA) provides resources and opportunities for empowerment through active grassroots participation in the growing global movement for economic and environmental justice. The earth and its inhabitants are endangered by the threats of global climate change and nuclear war, either of which could end the world as we know it. We embrace a world free of the growing devastation of global climate change.
We work to reduce and eliminate the danger of nuclear weapons and excessive military spending.
We promote peace and reject warfare as a valid method of resolving conflict.
We confront the core systemic injustices of political and corporate institutions that support ever-increasing financial inequities and block opportunity for all to share in the earths bounty.
