Get Cozy w The PSO: Prevailing Winds
Get Cozy with the PSO! A Chamber Concert Series.
Built around the Enescu Dixtuor, a work that blends the composers talent for melody with his French training, Portsmouth Symphony wind and brass players will be performing works from various time periods that show the depth of sound and character wind chamber music can portray. The Enescu Dixtuor was a year and a half in the making: "I wore myself out trying to make work a piece of music divided into four segments of such length that each of them was likely at any moment to break. An engineer launching his first suspension bridge over a river, could not feel more anxiety than I felt when I set out to darken my paper." Opening for them will be young virtuoso Arieh Soferr on trumpet.
The performance starts at 3:00pm. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.
