Winner of the Presser Music Award, violinist Anyango Yarbo-Davenport has been praised
by international critics for her captivating performance and sparkling rich sound. Born
in Munich, Germany, she is the daughter of African American soprano Africa Yarbo-

become a sought after collaborator and soloist since moving to the United States in 2005.
She regularly performs at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Detroit Orchestra Hall, Munich
Philharmonic, and Sibelius Hall Finland. She has been invited to be a visiting teaching
artist at the Juan N. Corpas University in Bogota, Colombia during Spring 2014.
Highlights of her concert season include the premiere and recording of violin
concertos and solo works by distinguished composers Lesemann (USC), Lang-Zaimont
and LeGendre (UK), and a tour for the Nassau Music Society. She was a featured soloist of
Eastman's Women in Music Festival tour and the inaugural 'The Eastmans in Berlin' tour
hosted by the Kurt Weill Fest Germany. She has been invited to join the artist rosters of the
Ritz Chamber Players and is looking forward to performing again at the Yachats Music
Festival in 2014. Currently, Ms. Yarbo-Davenport is completing the Doctoral Degree at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, is the teaching assistant to Prof. Charles Castleman and was awarded the coveted Performers Certificate from Eastman. She has previously studied at the academies of Munich/ Germany, the Mozarteum Salzburg/ Austria and Sibelius Academy Helsinki/ Finland.
Ms. Yarbo-Davenport has been invited to teach master classes at the Crane School of Music, Gettysburg College and Seattle University and, during her second year of Doctoral studies, has held a Visiting Professorship at Marshall University, West Virginia.
