NEXT Underground Series: Music Without Borders with Rahim AlHaj
Music is known as the Universal Language where all people are welcome, and nothing makes that more clear than the music of Rahim Al Haj and his virtuoso performance of the very first stringed instrument, the Oud. This special concert will feature classical fusion music from his new album, Letters from Iraq, and will also have music from Syria and Iran as well. Our own local string musicians mix with music from the East!

In addition to this performance, NEXT Ensemble is partnering with Weber State University to offer 3 outreach events with Rahim AlHaj that will be open to the public.
He will be giving a masterclass as well as a lecture presentation at Weber State University. He will also give a solo performance with the Weber State Symphony Orchestra.
His presentations will create a bridge between the Arab and non-Arab communities, humanizing the experiences of a foreigner and fostering more empathy for Arabs within our community.
In addition, Rahim will be holding a public outreach focused on reaching at-risk and undeserved youth in Ogden, This event will be in partnership with Youth Impact and Nurture the Creative Mind and will take place at the Browning Jubilee Center at 7 pm. These youth are no strangers to overcoming adversity, and may find inspiration in Rahim's story and ability to express his cultural identity through the creative process.
