Mississippi Baroque Diamonds: Come to the River
Presenting works of seven composers representing the furthest reaches of the Age of Exploration. Two arias by Vivaldi for the opera houses of Venice, a center of commerce looking East, will be performed by Spanish mezzo-soprano Nerea Berraondo.
The rest of the program will explore the Andean Baroque Route of Peru and the music from early Argentine Catholic missions by Juan Perez de Bocanegra and Domenico Zipoli, before returning to France and Germany with music by Jean-Baptiste Stuck and J.S. Bach.
