Carolina Grass
Carolina Grass consists of six seasoned musicians from Eastern NC, playing traditional, progressive and gospel bluegrass with an emphasis on 2 and 3 part tight harmonies and hot, clean instrumentation. Multi-instrumentalist James Brown plays mandolin with a cutting edge style that is truly unique. Larry Taylor sings much of the lead work and plays a fine rhythm and flat-picking guitar. Tommy Daughtridge also plays guitar, mastering the styles of Lester Flatt/ Charlie Waller and sings solid tenor or baritone harmonies. Lee Flood provides all of the banjo work in a style that is fast, clean and as tasteful as it gets. Steve Peters provides the fiddle intros., breaks and turn-arounds with a rich tone and impeccable timing learned from years as a 6 & 12 string guitarist. Eddie McDaris rounds out the group's sound by laying down the foundation on the upright bass, singing lead, tenor, baritone and doing the em-cee work for the band. Catch their show and you'll hear everything from bluegrass classics to country and rock tunes set in the progressive bluegrass style.
