Wytold, Gina, and a feast at the Casa Phoenix August 27
Doors will open for a full vegetarian dinner at 6:30. The concert starts at 7:30. 100% of ticket sales go to the musician(s).

We can't wait to host two brilliant musicians: Wytold, a DC-based composer and cellist, and Gina Sobel, a vocalist and flute player.

In addition to performing traditional cello repertoire, Wytold plays a six-string electric cello and creates his own rock-orchestral arrangements as featured in the award-winning films "Blood Brother" and "New Chefs on the Block". His original music celebrates classical technique hand-in-hand with modern grooves, improv, and rhythms of pop, rock, jazz, and world styles.  Using electronic edge alongside acoustic harmonies and double-stop grit, Wytolds electrified-chamber sound energizes and inspires.

Gina Sobel specializes in flute, voice, saxophone and composition. She received her BA in music from William and Mary in 2007 and now leads several phenomenal groups based in  Charlottesville, VA, including Gina Sobel and the Mighty Fine, the Sobel 4Tet, and Incognito, blending her love of jazz, rock, funk and Americana. For more, see www.ginasobel.com

Wytold and Gina have been collaborating and performing together for over 4 years. Gina's flute work is featured on Wytold's latest album, "Fireflies, Fairies & Squids," and Gina toured with Wytold Ensemble out to Greencastle, Indiana in 2016 as top 5 finalists in the 21st Century Musician Emerging Artist Competition.

Wytold has performed his original works with the National Symphony Orchestra (several years in a row), and at Sundance Film Festival, the Kennedy Center, the Strathmore Performing Arts Center, the Phillips Collection, Sydney-Harman Hall, the DC Jazz Festival, and many other venues. You are warmly welcome at the Casa, which is a private home where we don't wear shoes, so please remove yours at the door. The food is vegetarian, mainly gluten-free, home-cooked by the host, and offered free as her gift to you and everyone else who attends.
