Revolutionary and Banned: (Pre)Revolutionary Music
The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia's "Revolutionary and Banned" concert series continues with "(Pre)Revolutionary Music" a concert featuring the decadent French Baroque music from the court of Louis XIV, performed on period instruments in the historic Wilton House Museum. Musical selections include suites by Rameau and Couperin, and the solo flute sonata by C.P.E. Bach.
"Revolutionary and Banned" is one of several chamber music events CMSCVA presents annually, this time programmed around the remarkable role chamber music has played in muscial, political and social history. The series features 17 celebrated musicians - international competition winners, favorite performers from Richmond's classical music scene, and world-class soloists who bring this thrilling music to life. The concerts will be held in the historic Wilton House Museum, the Bon Air Presbyterian Church, and the Gellman Room of the Main Public Library in downtown Richmond.
