Zorá String Quartet
Zorá means "sunrise" in Bulgarian, perfectly-suited to the rich sound and wistful beauty of this ensemble. The program features Beethovens String Quartet No. 15 in A Minor, written by the composer after a long, nearly fatal illness. Also included is Mendelssohns String Quartet No. 2 in A Minor, Op. 13, one of his most passionate works, paying homage to Beethoven while taking the cyclic organization of the masters late quartets into radically new directions.
