KENNY WASHINGTON at the Sound Room
Get prepared for the best of the best!

This is the launch of a campaign to help the best living male jazz vocalist make a studio CD of his own. In addition to a concert with Kenny, this event features lunch by guest chefs and the opportunity to pre-purchase a CD. This event will help fund Kenny's studio time for the CD. When the CD is released, those who have pre-purchased will receive a signed copy of the CD and will be invited to a reception at the Sound Room.

Dubbed "the Superman of the Bay Area jazz scene" by the San Francisco Chronicle, Kenny Washington is a jazz virtuoso who thrills audiences with his soulful interpretations, seemingly limitless range, and rapid-fire scatting. Ravi Coltrane has declared Kenny his favorite male vocalist, and Mark Murphy said in a Jazz Times interview that Kenny was the only contemporary male vocalist carrying on the tradition. Kenny has performed and/or recorded with Louie Bellson, Wycliffe Gordon, Jon Hendricks, Elvis Costello, Joel Harrison, Jason and Delfeayo Marsalis, Joe Locke, Geoffrey Keezer, George Mraz, Clarence Penn, the Marcus Shelby Jazz Orchestra, The Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, the Slammin' All Body Band and The Michael O'Neill Quintet to name a few.

"I love this man!" said Wynton Marsalis of Kenny. "He's a consummate professional, with impeccable intonation. He's a real improviser who brings depth to everything he does. We all love Kenny. If you love music, you've got to love Kenny!"

"Kenny's one of the very greatest living male vocalists, without a doubt. He's a sublime storyteller and exquisite balladeer. I love his familiarity with R&B, with Donny Hathaway, Sam Cooke, and Marvin Gaye and how he can inject that feeling into the American Songbook in a very mature way", said Joe Locke

For this special event we offer a lush lunch prepared by Guest Chefs considered to be Rising Stars on the Bay Area Food Scene. The food will feature farm to table exquisite cuisine.

Doors will open at 12N. Lunch will be served  at 12:30.
Music will begin at 2P

Lunch is included in the ticket cost. Beer/wine and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase
