The Lucky 5 Jazz Band
On Saturday, July 1st at 3pm, Tompkins Corners Cultural Center is pleased to present The Lucky 5 Jazz Band, playing their mix of Hot Swing and Gypsy Jazz.
This exciting band from the Great Barrington area of Massachusetts has been entertaining audience and dancers for five years with their vibrant renditions of tunes from the 30's, 40's and 50's. The hard-swinging jazz band blends swing and gypsy jazz to create a unique, foot-stomping blend of music that appeals to a wide range of music lovers, and is known for performing original compositions as well as unearthing and rearranging traditional gems from a bygone era.
The five piece band alternates between Guitar, Upright Bass, Drums, Trombone and Trumpet, Mandolin and Fiddle with Vocals to top off the excitement. Band members Jonathan Talbott, Don Mikkelsen, Matt Downing, Kip Beacco and Brian Kantor are highly seasoned touring musicians who have played with The Hunger Mountain Boys, Lauren Ambrose & The Leisure Class, and traveled, performed and recorded with artists such as Peter Gabriel, Tony Bennett, Neko Case, Iris DeMent, Bobby Previte, Del McCoury, and Jim Lauderdale, to name just a few. The Lucky 5 brings verve, high energy, and an unpredictable impulse to the tradition of jazz, grooving deeply, and keeping dancers happy .
Tickets are $15 and are available until Saturday, July 1st at noon. After that, please call 845-528-7280 to reserve seats that can be purchased at the door. Refreshments will be available.
