Creative Music in Hapeville: Stuart Gerber
The Creative Music in Hapeville series comes to an end on January 13 with a performance by master percussionist Stuart Gerber. Lauded as having consummate virtuosity by The New York Times, Stuart has performed extensively throughout the US, Europe, Australia, and Mexico as a soloist an chamber musician. Dr. Gerber is a founding member of the Atlanta-based new music group Bent Frequency and is regularly heard as extra percussionist with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. As an active performer of new works, Gerber has been involved in a number of world-premiere performances; especially notable are his premieres of percussion works by the great Karlheinz Stockhausen: "Himmels-Tür," "Mittwoch-Formel," and the US premieres of "Nasenflügeltanz" and "Komet." Stuart's improvising is every bit the equal of his interpretative skill, and we look forward to some amazing improvised music at the Academy on the 13th.
