Nana w/ An Undeniable Voice and At The End Of The Line - 12th Annual Harlem International Film Festival
NANA
Director: Serena Dykman
US, Poland, Belgium, 100 min

The filmmaker retraces her grandmothers Auschwitz survival story, and investigates how her life-long fight against intolerance can continue to be taught to the new generations, against the backdrop of current events.

At 22, Serena had always known that her grandmother, Maryla Michalowski-Dyamant, was an Auschwitz survivor, but never inquired more about the Nana she had lost at 11. After witnessing the Charlie Hebdo and Brussels Jewish museum attacks, Serena suddenly decides to read her grandmothers memoir, and realizes who she was; more than a survivor, more than a Polish Jew, Serena discovers a woman she barely knew, a woman who despite her heavy past, gave all of her strength and life to fighting intolerance.

AT THE END OF THE LINE
Director: Robert Kerr

In 1939, in Nazi Germany, an amazing thing happened: Jewish parents, sensing their lives were in danger, placed their children aboard trains to be raised by foster families across free Europe. They did this, knowing they would probably never see their children again
