An Evening of Wine, Women, & Song - A Benefit Concert by Jen Chapin with Stephan Crump's Rosetta Trio to support WhyHunger and the Montclair NJ Human Needs Pantry
Join us for a Fabulous Evening in support of Great Cause: Supporting the movement to End Hunger - Locally and Worldwide.

St. James' Episcopal Church in Upper Montclair, NJ is proud to share their beautiful and historic buildings and sponsor this event bringing together our community for a common cause.  Proceeds from this event will be shared between WhyHunger and the Montclair Human Needs Food Pantry.

Your evening will begin at 7:00 pm with a Pre-Concert Reception featuring a variety of special wines, a tasting menu from local Montclair Restaurants, and musical entertainment from local High School students including the Passing Notes from Montclair High School and members of Helping Through Harmony from Montclair Kimberley Academy.

Jen Chapin and Stephan Crump's Rosetta Trio will perform at 8:00.

Jen Chapin's music is urban folk soul  story songs that search for community and shared meaning, powered by the funk and improvisation of the city. Critics have hailed her work as "brilliant.. soulfully poetic" (NPR), "thoughtful.. worth-savoring" (People), "addictive" (Boston Globe), "smart, observant, lyrically deft, politically aware and emotionally intuitive" (Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel). JazzTimes has called her "a first-rate storyteller" while Relix regards her as "one of the freshest voices singing today." She has been featured on "Late Nite with Conan O'Brien," honored by the USA Songwriting Competition, appeared on stage with Bruce Springsteen, and opened up for Bruce Hornsby and the Neville Brothers. Her performances are powerful, spotlighting the world-class musicianship and rare chemistry of Grammy-nominated acoustic bassist/husband Stephan Crump and "unflappable melodist" (New York Times) guitarist Jamie Fox.  This evening, guitarist Liberty Ellman will also be performing rounding out the Rosetta Trio.

As an activist, educator and mother based in Brooklyn NY, Jen also brings the knowledge and insight of varied experience (student/traveler in Mexico and Zimbabwe, BA in International Relations, longtime Member, former Chair and present Secretary of the Board of WhyHunger  ( http://www.whyhunger.org )  to her workshops and presentations to college, church and community groups.

WhyHunger is a leader in building the movement to end hunger and poverty by connecting people to nutritious, affordable food and by supporting grassroots solutions that inspire self-reliance and community empowerment.  Ms. Chapin has been involved with WhyHunger for nearly 20 years, has served as it's Chair and is currently still serving on its Board of Directors as Secretary.

The Human Needs Food Pantry provides food, clothing and other services to people in need who live in Montclair, NJ and other neighboring communities in Essex County.                     ( http://www.humanneedsfoodpantry.org )

In addition to the student performers, local High School students are also volunteering in all aspects of the evening including: Donations of equipment and operators for lighting and sound provided by the Montclair Student Cafe Project, and publication, and hospitality provided by the RobinHood project of MKA.  We're very proud of the community that has come together to make this evening one you don't want to miss!
