Aires: Explorations of American Chamber Music

CHAI Collaborative Ensemble returns to PianoForte Foundation for "Aires: Explorations of American Chamber Music" on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 7:30pm. Join us for this vibrant journey through classical music as we explore Latin American sounds and rhythms, ragtime, and a dash of quintessential Americana in works by William Bolcom, Aaron Copland, Paquito d'Rivera, and Jennifer Higdon.

CHAI Collaborative Ensemble is a Chicago-based collective of musicians dedicated to performing substantial and approachable programs of mixed vocal and instrumental chamber music. Our repertoire runs the gamut, ranging from beloved classics to newly commissioned works, with many hidden gems along the way.

We believe that, at its best, music is a co-creative and inclusive art form. In addition to performing at a high musical caliber, we strive to provide joyful and convivial concert experiences for all our audience members, whether they are seasoned concertgoers or are attending a classical music concert for the very first time. All are welcome at our performances, and we want to share our music with as many people as possible.

We see music as a means of bringing people together and of being engaged in the communities in which we perform. As artists and performers, we feel called to pay homage to history while also taking the art form forward and breaking down barriers between performers and audience members. In future seasons, the musicians of CHAI plan to present programs in partnership with various community organizations to encourage dialogue about the issues we as a society currently face.
