The Dennis Brennan Band returns to the carpets of the Lizard Lounge tonight bringing what they bring every week; a boatload of terrific songs and a mountain of musical muscle. Tonight features the incredible all star line up of KBMG (Dave Mattacks, David Brown, Wolf Ginandes, Dan King). And we aren't kidding! These guys are a thought provoking veteran Folk Rock Band who's members have recorded and performed with the most successful (critical and chart topping), names in rock, folk and country music, including Paul McCartney, Fairport Convention, Simon and Garfunkel, George Harrison, Roseanne Cash, Julian Lennon, Billy Joel, Elton John, Richard Thompson, Jimmy Page, Nick Drake, Jethro Tull, and many more.
Tonight continues the fall / winter season of Wednesday nights at The Lizard Lounge with the Dennis Brennan Band and the usual cast of incredible musicians. Look for frequent themes woven into their sets such as cities; Memphis, New Orleans, Los Angeles... or a style, Country, Knucklehead Rock, Garage...or a particular songwriter/s, Dan Penn, Goffin/King, Arthur Alexander, Ray Davies, Doug Sahm. In addition the band will mine much of the back catalog mixed in with the new material from the upcoming album later in 2016. As the band did last season, special guests open the second set each week with a short set.

KBMG is Dan King, David Brown, Dave Mattacks and Wolf Ginandes.
KBMG are a serious, thought provoking veteran Folk Rock Band who's members have recorded and performed with the most successful (critical and chart topping), names in rock, folk and country music, including Paul McCartney, Fairport Convention, Simon and Garfunkel, George Harrison, Roseanne Cash, Julian Lennon, Billy Joel, Elton John, Richard Thompson, Jimmy Page, Nick Drake, Jethro Tull, and many more. Lead by timeless songwriter Dan King, KBMG generate a musical engine that can scream and purr with a dynamic range of song and lyric. These four gentlemen have seen the bars, coffeehouses, clubs, stadiums, fairs, top studio sessions and theaters over their exstensive careers in the music business; they continue to be in-demand live and recording studio musicians today. David Brown's ten-year stint in the 80s during Billy Joel's heyday brought him round the globe many times over, a wall of gold and platinum and the experience of being in the top Billboard recording group for the decade. Dave Mattacks has a discography that reads like a who's who of folk, rock and pop. DM continues to enjoy accolades with Fairport Convention (Fairport's Liege and Lief voted greatest folk rock album ever), which only solidifies his already legendary status. He also continues to tour currently in the drum seat with Roseanne Cash and many others. It's safe to say that bassist Wolf Ginandes' status around Boston has been elevated to Guru. Ginandes is the master of groove and feel for KBMG. With a deep knowledge of how things work, Ginandes is also an expert guitar and bass maker, and restorer with over 20 years experience at the Berklee Musical Instruments service center. Bringing all this talent together is master singer/songwriter Dan King, who became friends with these legendary, professional musicians after working with them on his many solo and live albums. The chemistry worked and King's songs won their hearts. They saw his music as something special and worth standing behind as personified in the new release Blue Sky Sundown. Their recordings and live experiences have grown into a relationship that DM describes as "not just four great musicians playing together but a real band with a strong and moving sound."
Dan also currently writes and produces for The Bandit Kings and does solo and collaborative projects. His past band the Prolz is still available on iTunes and Spotify as are his past solo records.
MORE ON DENNIS BRENNAN.... To the uninitiated, Brennan could be considered Boston's own Leonard Cohen or Elvis Costello. His songwriting is respected by critics and musicians alike. Not only adept with the pen, Dennis Brennan is a highly accomplished performer and is known for his ability to span musical genres, styles, and era's with ease. His emotive and passionate voice is comfortable tackling classic country and R& B as well classic jazz, rock and blues. But it's really Brennan's originals that have set him apart. The Chicago Sun Times described him as "A rootsy, hard-edged rocker with the barroom soul of the pre-Woodstock Graham Parker and the unsparing insight of a working class poet." It's a fitting description if ever there was one. To the initiated faithful who attend every show, Dennis and his band (which includes guitarists Duke Levine, Kevin Barry, Lyle Brewer, and Ian Kennedy on any given night along with the rhythm section of Billy Beard and Richard Gates) have etched so many indelible magical moments on the local collective conscious that they return each week to see what will happen next. .
