Pianist Pablo Suaste Cherizolas elegant and virtuosic artistry has led him to be recognized as a rising star in the music world. In January 2017, Mr. Suaste won the Aeolian Classics Emerging Artist Award at the Chicago College of Performing Arts; as a result, he will record a debut solo album to be released in 2017 on Aeolian Classics. As the Aeolian Classics Emerging Artist Award winner, he will also perform as soloist in a seven-concert tour of Chicago.
Past performance highlights include recitals at important concert venues in Mexico, such as the Fine Arts Palace, Hidalgo Concert Hall of Colima, Teatro Ocampo in Morelos, Blas Galindo Concert hall, and the Cultural Center Roberto Cantoral. His budding performance career has also brought him to American cities, such as Dallas, Chicago and New York.
Pablo Suaste Cherizola regularly performs chamber music with his father, the acclaimed baritone Jesús Suaste. Mr. Suaste is a recipient of fellowships from various prestigious institutions, such as SIVAM, INBA, FONCA, and Amigos de la Musica A.C.
Born in Mexico City in 1993, he began his studies at the age of 14 at the Centro Morelense de las Artes under the tutelage of professor Alejandro Vigo. Subsequent piano studies included working with Anatoly Zatin and Vlada Vassilieva (PETROF DUO) at the University of Colima, and with Gustavo Rivero Weber (a student of Jorge Bolet at the Curtis Institute of music) in Mexico City.
He has performed in masterclasses for celebrity artists, such as Lang Lang, Boris Berman, Jean Dubé, Pavlina Dokovska, Eva Maria Zuk, and Martin Katz, among others.
Mr. Suaste is an undergraduate piano performance major at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, studying with Jorge Federico Osorio.
Yas Quartet - Biography
Yas Quartet was the Third prize winner of the 2016 Schoenfeld International String Competition in Harbin, China. They also competed as one of 12 quarter-finalists at the 2016 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Formed in Chicago, members of Yas Quartet hail from all around the globe including Russia, United States and China. The quartet began in 2015 at the Chicago College of Performing Arts and now holds the position of Emerging Artist Quartet in Residence. Under the direction of Stefan Hersh YQ works closely with renowned musicians Ming-Huan Xu, Almita and Roland Vamos, and Toby Appel. Other mentors include Ying Quartet, Pacifica Quartet and David Kim. In summer of 2016 the quartet was the inaugural ensemble invited to participate in Colorado College Summer Music Festival Quartet Program.
Yas Quartet is dedicated to launching an outreach program that will serve as a platform for unity through music. YQ has performed and engaged with communities such as Lurie Children's Hospital, Juvenile Detention Facilities and various nursing homes in the Chicago area. The quartet collaborates with Roosevelt University's Sharing Notes and will be working closely with the International Music Foundation (IMF) during the upcoming year. The quartet served as cultural ambassadors representing Roosevelt University on their first of two trips to China in 2016. Comprised of different nationalities, cultures and socioeconomic groups, Yas strives to be an example of dynamic diversity and inclusivity.
