A Sweet & Spicy Valetine's Day Concert
PLEASE NOTE: Tickets in advance are $25 and tickets at the door are $40!

Lauded for her "evocative artistry", "worldly... gorgeous... positively mercurial singing" and considered by a Downbeat critic as "one of the best voices in jazz today", improvisational musician ERIN MCDOUGALD knows how to entice, enchant and subtly educate an audience with her ever-burgeoning repertoire, consistently poignant interpretations of standards and obscurities, and an emotionally-rhythmic nuance, which, effectively stretches far beyond the typical straight-ahead swing genre into the modern jazz spectrum.   The nationally touring, Chicago-based vocalist will be returning to PianoForte for a special 75 minute Valentine's Day concert on Tuesday, February 14th at 8pm with her outstanding group which consists of top-echelon instrumentalists: pianist, Kevin O'Connell, bassist Scott Mason and 7-time GRAMMY-winning drummer Paul Wertico. Tickets are $25.00 in advance, online and $40 at the door -1335 South Michigan Ave, in Chicago's South Loop (2nd Floor)- the night of the show.  All-ages are welcome to this concert performance. McDougald's CDs will be available for purchase after the performance. Click HERE  and HERE to see/hear Erin McDougald sing in festival settings with Paul Wertico.

What people have said about Erin's singing:

"She's a portrait of elegance and class... like (legendary Chicago jazz singer) Anita O'Day, McDougald's voice can sound romantic, sultry, husky, melancholy and clear as a tuning fork --sometimes all at once... In short, she swings"

-City Talk Magazine (Cover Story)

"The best jazz vocalist of her generation and by far my favorite of any generation" -Tim Price, saxophone luminary & jazz author

"There is something about her interior that shines through in the music, not just her beautiful eyes... very sweet... she has IT... range, rhythm, phrasing, spontaneous creativity and a gorgeous, rich tone in every register... I love, love, love her --I would say more than any jazz singer I've come across, and I have produced and worked with the best: Anita [O'Day], Ella [Fitzgerald], Joe Williams, Sinatra, Sarah [Vaughan], Nina [Simone] and McRae [Carmen McRae]". -Buddy Bregman composer/arranger/conductor/producer Verve Records 1955-2007

"When Erin walked on that stage her lovely figure and remarkable looks might have been what attracted the audience, but her glorious voice and all that escaped her heart is what enchanted, held and haunted us" -Gene Lees, renowned lyricist, famed jazz author

"One very fine singer with musical guts and professional class in a beautiful, spirited package" -Cedar Walton

"Baby girl swings her ass off" -Dave Liebman, NEA Jazz Master and world renowned, legendary saxophone legend

"I was there because we had both been written up in The Tribune's Inc Column that month, and I was told to check her out while I was in Chicago, working a tour. She was young... very very young... and... well... she was definitely more talented than the average working singer, but... mostly sang like young singers sing... until she sang the tune 'Smile'... she really got me with that... she really made that song completely her own... She turned it inside out. Something deep connected her to this music and it translated even as a young, green, artist and has grown considerably from there" -Keely Smith, legendary swing singer

"This is Erin McDougald, a vocalist and brilliant artist... one of the most intelligent people I know, and that's saying something"  -Nicholas Payton, Grammy winning trumpeter

"Many people are touted as jazz singers, but, very few actually are. Erin McDougald is the consummate jazz vocalist, for starters, just by her willingness and actual ability to take chances on the fly, reacting to the music -and mishaps- as it all happens instead of [reciting] something off of a page... Most times she calls songs off the top of her head without a set list... songs we may never have done before, or in ways no one has ever tried before--- no matter what setting we are in... it's some heavy, beautiful stuff!... And the choices she makes with her direction of the music.... That is where the definition of jazz, for me, comes in. By that, no question, she is the only true jazz singer in Chicago and one of my favorites anywhere" -Rob Block, multi-instrumentalist, NYC

"Provocative in that you almost forget her sex appeal and natural beauty once her amazing singing voice takes hold... I said almost forget... I can honestly say I never cared about jazz until I heard her sing it" -John Malkovich, acclaimed stage and film actor
