A warm, cohesive congregation of Sephardic Jews suffers an accident during a bar mitzvah: the womens balcony collapses, the rebbetzin is injured, and the beloved rabbi cant cope. Enter Rabbi David, a religious fundamentalist who offers to help the congregation. But there is a price
for his help. The men are captivated; however, the women are enraged and take matters into their own hands. Ultimately congregational peace is restored. A rousing, good-humored tale of women speaking truth to power, The Womens Balcony is at once rebellious and respectful in spirit.
