Mark Hanson with his wife Greta Pedersen
Winner of a Grammy Award in 2005, played for the President in 2009, and has one of his books included in Shawn Persinger's50 Greatest Guitar Books.
Mark started guitar by borrowing his sister's Sears Silvertone acoustic and imitating Peter, Paul & Mary, Pete Seeger, and Kingston Trio records.
Earning his college degree in music from Stanford in the mid-70s, Mark then started his teaching/performing career.
His first book,The Art of Contemporary Travis Picking was published in 1985. Years of teaching had clearly defined his teaching method for alternating-thumb fingerpicking, so Greta and he started Accent On Music and published their first book. Merle Travis himself graciously consented to them using his name in the title.
