Volti presents the premiere of Dan Visconti's "Wear Flowers in Your Hair," a celebration of the culture, diversity and tolerance of San Francisco from the winner of Volti's annual young-composer competition. Also the premiere of "Pacific Beach," a new work from Harold Meltzer setting poetry by Kenneth Rexroth -- sometimes called the "father of the beat poets," though Rexroth didn't like that title. Plus more groundbreaking new choral music from San Francisco composer Mark Winges, and from Kirsten Broberg and Huang Ruo.
Volti's presents new & experimental choral music: Friday March 1, 8 PM, David Brower Center, 2150 Allston, Berkeley; (come early for a glass of wine and chat with composers at 7:30);
Saturday March 2, 8 PM, St. Mark's Lutheran, O'Farrell & Gough, San Francisco;
Sunday March 3, 4 PM, David Brower Center, 2150 Allston, Berkeley.
