Menahan Street Band is taking a few days off from their tour with Charles Bradley and will be making a rare appearance in Milwaukee! Don't miss this one.
The Menahan Street Band is a collaboration of musicians from Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, El Michels Affair, Antibalas, and the Budos Band, brought together by musician/producer Thomas Brenneck. With influences reaching beyond the funk/soul/afrobeat architecture of their other projects into the more ethereal realms of Curtis Mayfield and Mulatu Astatke, the Menahan Street Band creates a unique new instrumental soul sound that is as raw as it is lush. Their style is marked by eerily quirky arrangements, featuring vibes, horns, piano, organ, percussion and even some interesting styles of guitar. However, it is not the textures themselves that make the new sound of Menahan Street so exciting, but rather the way the sounds are incorporated into the heavy rhythms and bold melodies of the compositions.
The band is also known for their production and recording efforts with the likes of Paul McCartney, Alicia Keys, Mark Ronson, and Cee-Lo as well as artists like 50 Cent, Kid Cudi, Jay Z who have sampled songs from their last album, "Make The Road By Walking".

Since 2003, Milwaukee's, De La Buena has grown from a trio to a 10-piece powerhouse! De La Buena has been electrifying crowds with their own modern brand of Afro-Cuban and Latin Jazz. Employing jazz harmonic sensibilities with a deep-seated love of diverse cultures, De La Buena explores the textures and rhythms of Latin music's of the Americas with roots planted firmly in African Diasporic traditions. De La Buena is a sophisticated Latin dance band with a touch of the psychedelic influences.
