Second Annual Spring Swing: Ella Fitzgerald
The Glass City Swing Band present the Second Annual Spring Swing featuring GCSB's own Caryn Dettling singing the songs of Ella Fitzgerald with John Noble as Master of Ceremonies.
The performance will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. at the Greensburg Salem Middle School Concert Hall located at 301 North Main Street, Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Admission $15. Students $3. Student can purchase tickets at the door or in advance by calling GCSB at 724-374-3777.
This concert will be one you don't want to miss. We will be celebrating Ella Fitzgerald's 100th birthday! You'll hear songs that had meaning to Ella and to her career such as the song that put her on the map, A Tisket, A Tasket. Ella made this piece her own by transforming this children's rhyming game into a jazz piece. She introduced A Tisket, A Tasket to the public with the Chick Webb Orchestra in 1938. It has since become a jazz standard.
The Glass City Swing Band is located in Westmoreland County Pennsylvania in the City of Jeannette, formally known as The Glass City.
