Event with Frank Shamrock
Laguna Beach Books will host an event with world champion MMA fighter, Frank Shamrock. Frank will hold a demonstration of fighting techniques and a signing for his new book, Uncaged: My Life as a Champion MMA Fighter. The event will be held at Optimus Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, located at 31151 Niguel Road in Laguna Niguel.
Please note that this is a ticketed signing only. Cost for the event is $30. A copy of the book is included in the ticket price, and a portion of the ticket price will also be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach. The first forty to arrive will be invited to attend a mini-seminar with Frank, where he will demonstrate fighting techniques with the opportunity to practice these techniques. Frank will then speak about his book and answer questions. Attendees can begin lining up at 10:30 am, and the mini-seminar will begin at 11 am. The signing will begin at 12:30 pm. Space is limited and we recommend that you purchase your tickets early. Books will be available for pick-up at the event.
Before becoming known professionally as "The Legend" and winning almost every mixed martial arts title in existence, Frank Shamrock was Frank Alicio Juarez III the scrappy, chubby kid from rural California who was in and out of juvenile detention starting from the age of 11.
In Uncaged, Shamrock bares all as he describes a childhood filled with abuse, neglect and petty crime that led to an equally troubled young adulthood. Beginning with his early childhood living with his hippie mother and abusive stepfather in a shed behind their house, Shamrock goes on to detail his salvation under the foster father who took him in when no one else would, his descent into drugs, alcohol and increasingly serious crimes which would land him in state prison and his eventual rebirth as a cage fighter who would go on to dominate the entire sport for the next two decades. Chronicling his fights inside and outside of the ring, Uncaged offers never-before-told details behind the people and events that enabled him to become a champion as well as his problems with the Ultimate Fighting Championship and the reasons behind his retirement.
Using refreshing candor to tell this thrilling story of sex, violence, crime and redemption, Uncaged offers an unprecedented look inside the world of mixed martial arts fighting while revealing the numerous pitfalls Shamrock encountered in his life and how he successfully overcame them to become a champion in every sense of the word.
