The Artistry of Strings 2017
"Our program highlights outstanding music from three distinct eras of classical music. Jean-Marie LeClair was a French baroque virtuoso who left us dozens of gems for the violin. We've selected a delightful Sonata for Two Violins from 1747 to perform. Twentieth century composer Dmitri Shostakovich is featured in two works on the program, a Duet for Two Violins and Piano, music he composed for film, and his great masterpiece, the Piano Quintet in G Minor. We'll also perform one of Beethoven's early string quartets, a lively and delicate, yet substantive piece." - Mary Beth Woodruff
