With and Without Words
7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21; St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Portland
The performances will include Whitacre's Alleluia (originally October,) Barber's Agnus Dei (Adagio for Strings,) Holst's I Vow to Thee My Country (Jupiter Hymn,) and Sibelius' This is My Song (Finlandia). The ensemble will do away with words completely in Chorale Without Words by Portland's own Tomas Svoboda, and in movements from Mendelssohn's Songs Without Words, featuring accompanist Jennifer Creek Hughes.
